The short version
- Wattle Bot keeps only what its features need: mostly Discord IDs, your server's settings and the records features create, like levels and moderation cases.
- Some features read the text of messages, such as auto-mod and logging. They only do so in servers that turn them on.
- We don't sell personal information or use it for advertising. This website has no cookies, analytics or trackers.
- You can ask us for a copy of your data, or to delete it, at any time.
- A few details, like exactly how long data is kept and where it's stored, are still being finalised. They're marked TBC below.
This summary is here to help you find your way. The full text below is what applies.
1.About this policy
This policy explains how Company name TBC: Registered company name to be confirmed (ABN TBC: ABN to be confirmed), trading as Wattle Cloud (“we”, “us” or “our”), handles personal information when you use Wattle Bot, its dashboard and this website.
We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988. Where the UK GDPR or the EU GDPR applies, we're the controller of the personal information described here.
Discord handles your Discord account under its own Privacy Policy. This policy covers only what Wattle Bot and Wattle Cloud do.

3.Message content
Some features need to read the text of messages. They only do so in servers where they're turned on:
- Auto-mod checks new messages against the filters a server turns on.
- Logging posts the text of edited and deleted messages to the server's log channel, if message logs are on.
- Text to speech reads messages from the chosen channel aloud in voice.
- Auto-responses check messages for the words or phrases a server sets.
- The starboard copies starred messages to the starboard channel.
- Tickets save a transcript of the ticket channel when it closes.
Exactly which message text we store, as opposed to only reading it, and for how long, is being finalised TBC: To be confirmed. This section will say so before launch.
4.How we use it, and our legal bases
We use personal information to run Wattle Bot and the dashboard, to answer support requests, to keep the service secure and stop abuse, and to fix problems. We don't use it for advertising, and we don't sell it.
If you're in the UK or the EEA, the law asks us to name a legal basis for each use:
- Providing the features you or your server asked for: performing our agreement with you (our Terms of Service), or our legitimate interest in providing the service a server's managers set up.
- Security, preventing abuse and fixing problems: our legitimate interest in keeping the service safe and working.
- Anything we ask your permission for: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Keeping records the law requires: our legal obligations.
6.Where it's stored
Wattle Bot's data is stored in Hosting location TBC: Where the data is stored is to be confirmed.
Because Discord and the people using Wattle Bot are all over the world, personal information may be sent to, or accessed from, other countries, including Australia, the UK and the US. Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR restricts a transfer, we use a safeguard the law recognises, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the EU standard contractual clauses.
7.How long we keep it
- A server's settings and records are deleted TBC: Number of days to be confirmed days after Wattle Bot is removed from that server, so they're still there if it's added back by mistake.
- Your personal records, such as reminders, birthdays and text-to-speech preferences, are kept until you delete them or ask us to.
- Error and command logs are kept for TBC: Number of days to be confirmed days.
- Support conversations are kept for as long as we need them to help you, and then deleted.
Moderation cases belong to the server they were made in. Server managers can delete them in the dashboard.
8.Your choices and rights
You can ask us for a copy of your personal information, to correct it, or to delete it, and you can object to how we use it. In the UK and the EEA, you also have the right to restrict its use and to take it elsewhere.
- Delete personal records yourself with commands such as /birthday remove and /reminders delete.
- Download or delete your data from the account page in the dashboard, once sign-in opens.
- Or ask us at [email protected] or in our support server (discord.gg/wattlecloud).
We'll confirm who you are before acting on a request, and reply within 30 days. Some records, such as a server's moderation cases about you, are also the server's records, so we may need to talk to its managers. Removing Wattle Bot from a server starts the deletion of that server's data.
9.Security
We protect personal information with technical and organisational measures that suit the risk, and only the people who need it to run the service can access it.
If a data breach is likely to cause serious harm, we'll tell the people affected and the regulators the law requires, including the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner and, for people in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office.
10.Children
Wattle Bot is for people who meet Discord's minimum age in their country. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger. If you think we have, tell us at [email protected] and we'll delete it.
11.This website
This website doesn't use cookies, analytics or trackers, and it loads nothing from other companies. Our fonts are hosted here.
The dashboard's preview keeps its sample settings in your browser, so they survive a reload. That information stays in your browser and is never sent to us. Once dashboard sign-in opens, it will use a cookie to keep you signed in. That cookie is strictly necessary and is never used to track you.
12.Changes to this policy
We'll update this policy when Wattle Bot or the law changes. If a change significantly affects how we use your information, we'll announce it in our Discord server and on this page at least 30 days before it applies.
13.Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first at [email protected], and we'll reply within 30 days.
You can also complain to a regulator: in Australia, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner; in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office; in the EEA, the data protection authority where you live.
